Economic Liberalization Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Monetary Liberalization - Essay Example Despite the fact that both have now become an extremely effective instance of FDI directed advancement model yet the structure of economy of these two countries are at the two parts of the bargains the monetary hypothesis. In China, being a one gathering socialist state and exceptionally solid focal government financial choices are taken regardless of what is really the individuals at ground wish while in India, being a common majority rule country with multi-party political framework choices identified with economy are regularly taken while considering the impulses like discretionary guarantees and is a lot of populist in nature. The administrations which incorporates both focal and states are consistently under tension from both resistance groups and famous open interest and numerous multiple times the choices get influenced because of this factor. Simultaneously, India's monetary represent over forty years of its freedom had been defensive and least associated with the world (Brom ley, Mackintosh, Brown and Wuyts, 2004, p. 196). Its unbiased remain during the virus war and key military relationship with USSR caused extremely less interation with western world drove by USA. The nation kept on pursueing its autonomous political stand and entered 21st century, its monetary structure saw extraordinary changes and the nation presently brags of having the USA as its biggest exchanging accomplice and simultaneously, US has additionally discovered incredible enthusiasm for world's biggest majority rules system and the as of late marked atomic settlement between the US president George Bush and Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh obviously underlines the developing enthusiasm between the two. So the new India or better to state the changed India post changes presents an excellent situation where Kenneth Waltz's hypothesis of International Relations which expresses that the activity of a state can regularly get influenced because of weights being applied by global powers and in this way constraining the alternatives accessible to them(1979). The neorealist or organized model has been created with the mean to clarify the rehashing examples of state conduct and force and its degree which is the mix of its ability to oppose outer impact while affecting others to act as per its desires (Extra Material, p. 6). The progression procedure in India started in mid 1990s in the residency of the Prime Minister P. V. Narashimha Rao under the administration of then Finance Minister Dr. Manamohan Singh. The change procedure and India's mix into world economy was generally refreshing with International Monetary Fund or the IMF considering it a drawn out restorative measure. The change procedure which started with India marking GATT and turning into a piece of WTO was broadly valued by practically all monetary quarters (Bromley et. al, 2004, p. 173). Yet at the same time the resistance drove by socialists and the BJP were dead against the proposition. The Narashimha Rao govt. proceeded with his changes however gradually while annihilating the resistance solidarity by making non BJP resistance groups accept that the fall of the legislature will clear a path for BJP to get power at focus. BJP around then was viewed as a shared ideological group and there was a far reaching dread that once coming into po wer this gathering will roll out strong improvements to the current political structure of India and might change over India into a solitary gathering managed state. This dread helped the Narashimha Rao govt. to finish its full term and during this period, the Indian economy became irreversibility liberal (Bromley et. al,

Such attacks occur seemingly out-of-the-blue when you are suddenly overcome by feelings of dread and apprehension. During a panic attack, uncomfortable physical sensations often begin to take hold. Some of the most common somatic sensations that panic sufferers endure include shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, excessive sweating, and even chest pain. How Breathing Exercises Can Help Ease Anxiety It is not uncommon for physical sensations to intensify during a panic attack, causing you to become increasingly anxious and fearful. Deep breathing exercises can help you to feel more calm and peaceful despite your unpleasant symptoms. By bringing attention to your breath, you may be able to focus it instead of becoming fixated on your panic-related symptoms. This can allow your mind to stay in the present rather than chasing worrisome thoughts. Breathing exercises can help you work through hyperventilation, which commonly occurs from overwhelming panic attacks and anxiety. Although panic attacks typically reach a peak within 10 minutes before gradually subsiding, you may still feel the effects of the attack long after it has passed. For instance, you may feel keyed up or tense for the remainder of your day. Perhaps your attack also leaves you physically uncomfortable, such as with back or neck strain. Fortunately, practicing deep breathing exercises can also assist you with these common panic-related issues. Deep breathing is a form of relaxation that may help you let go of physical stress and mental strain that often accompany panic and anxiety. How to Practice the 3-Part Breath Now that you have learned about the benefits that focused breathing can have on panic and anxiety, it is time to get started with a simple breathing exercise. Known as “3 Part Breath,” the following exercise will allow you to breathe deeply, allowing your breath to slowly move in and out of the stomach, lungs, and throat. Read through these instructions at least one time first and then go ahead and practice on your own. Start by getting yourself into a comfortable position. This may mean sitting upright in a chair with your feet flat on the ground, lying down on your back with your palms turned upward, or simply sitting cross-legged on the floor. You may want to try different positions to determine what’s best for you. Also, remove any restrictive clothing or jewelry, such as a belt, watch, or other heavy jewelry. Once you have found a calming position, you can further relax through a few stretches and adjustments. Thoughtfully survey your entire body, noticing if there are any places where you are holding tension and tightness. Take a deep breath in and with a breath out, try to let go of some of those sensations. Roll your shoulders and your neck out a few times. Let go of any strain on your forehead, eyes, and throat. Close your eyes or look downward. Now that your body is more at ease, it is time to center your attention on your breathing. First, simply notice your breath. Is it shallow, noisy, or inconsistent? Through observing your breath, you can begin to become aware of your natural breath. After observing your natural breath, it is time to deepen your breath. You will be inhaling slowly, first bringing some air into your stomach, then the lungs, and lastly into your throat before exhaling all the breath out. To begin, gently place your hands on your stomach and fill your body with breath as you inhale. Imagine that you are filling your stomach with breath, causing you belly and hands to rise.Next, take more air in, imaging this breath coming into your lungs. At the same time move your hands up your body to allow you to feel your lungs expand.Last, place your hands onto your collarbones and allow your inhale to come into your throat. Hold for just a moment. Finally, exhale all the air out, imagining it leaving your throat, then the lungs, and last out of your belly.Repeat this exercise for 5-10 rounds of deep breaths. Tips for 3-Part Breathing Once you are used to what 3-part breath feels like, you can just rest your arms to your sides instead of on your body. The steps here may seem long, but the actual exercise is quicker. You are breathing in deeply to stomach, lungs, and throat then exhaling from throat to lungs to stomach.Try to practice this exercise once a day. When practiced regularly, you will be better prepared to use deep breathing whenever panic or anxiety symptoms strike.

Everyone has lied at one point in their life, people typically lie because it is hard for them to admit their wrong doings and are scared or embarrassed. This goes to show that their bravery has not yet built up. For example, if Dimmesdale had mustered up his fear and bravery, he could have stood on the scaffold with Hester and Pearl upon questioning Hester. Hester wanted to have peace in both her and Dimmesdale’s life but she kept holding back the truth which was the key to Dimmesdale’s salvation. 7 Organizational Approaches to studying the human body Free Essays

There are seven organizational approaches to studying the human body. The first would be body planes and body directions. The body can be divided up into three sections, front and back, top to bottom, and left to right. We will write a custom essay sample on 7 Organizational Approaches to studying the human body or any similar topic only for you Order Now The names of those three planes are the coronal, the transverse, and the sagittal planes. When you are studying organs or tissues you could use this approach to make sure the job gets done to the most accurate degree. Looking at the lungs, brains, and joints can be difficult sometimes so in that case you would use the body and planes approach. The body can be studied also according to the body cavity approach and by looking at the major internal organs. Most of the time that you see this approach being used the reasoning is to look deeper into the body and find disease. When conducting a physical exam on someone they may use an approach to identify where your internal organs are placed called the quadrants and regions approach. There are four quadrants, URQ, ULQ, LLQ, and LRQ. There are also nine regions. The nine regions are the right and left hypochondriac, the epigastric region, the right and left lumbar regions and the umbilical region; finally there is the right and left inguinal regions along with the hypogastric regions. This approach works the best when being given a physical exam for school sports or whatever. The next approach that may be used to study the human body would be the anatomy and physiology approach. This approach can be used for studying the structures in the body and how they react to certain things that you may or may not do on a daily basis. This approach is also good for examining and studying cells or the nervous system. Microscopic and macroscopic may sound similar but they are far different. This approach can be best exercised in looking to see how cells combine to make a larger cell. Next on the list is the body systems approach. In this approach you can easily study the circulatory system as well as the respiratory system. The last and final approach that you can study the human body with is the medical specialty approach. In this approach you are able to study the human body for medical use. How to cite 7 Organizational Approaches to studying the human body, Essay examples

Micrometer Ammeter Voltmeter Essay Example

Micrometer Ammeter Voltmeter Paper For this investigation I looked at all the factors that could affect the results of my experiment. These are the Material of the wire. Different materials conduct in different conductivities. The better conductor the wire material is the more electric current will flow therefore the resistance will decrease. Wire Length is also another determining factor of wire conductivity, as a general rule the longer the wire is the further the current of electrons will have to travel meaning that the current will drop due to the larger amount of wire creating more resistance. Thickness of the wire, the thicker the wire I think will add more resistance because there are more metal ions in the wire to have collisions with electrons causing more resistance in the wire. Wire temperature after the experiment has been tested/is undergoing testing. The temperature has the same detrimental effect that a thicker wire does causing more collisions and causing greater resistance to the flow of current. I will be testing overall for the resistivity of the wire over different distances of wire. AIM My aim is to investigate the resistance of a wire over set distances incrementing every 50mm. We will write a custom essay sample on Micrometer Ammeter Voltmeter specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Micrometer Ammeter Voltmeter specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Micrometer Ammeter Voltmeter specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer There is little equipment needed and uses little equipment that can cause calculation errors meaning incorrect results. Also instead of testing for different thicknesses this allows me to use 1 wire and simply change the distance over which it is tested. It will also give clear and concise readings that can be trusted and used for comparing/observing trends. I chose not to measure the width of the wire and presume that the wire is of the stated thickness of 28 swg Nichrome wire. For this experiment I will assume that the wire is perfectly round at 0. 38mm diameter. FORMULA’S. Charge is measured in coulombs and charge is the amount of current that flows every second. Electric current is measured in AMP’s (A), Charge in COULOMBS (C) 1 Volt of P. D = 1 Joule per coulomb i = Q / t Current can only flow in fully complete circles, there are two different types of circuits called parallel and series. The experiment I set up is a series circuit so that the current is either Fully ON or Fully OFF. All electrical current has energy stored as Potential energy, the voltage transferred in a circuit is measured as energy delivered by each coulomb of electricity. This is Potential difference (P. D), potential difference is the measure of voltage difference between two points within a complete circuit. Current is recorded by using an Ammeter to find out the Amperes in a circuit, Voltmeters are used to measure P. D. I will need to use both of these to measure the Current and Voltage when carrying out my experiment. Ammeters are connected in series with the wire and the Voltmeter in parallel. Resistance of a wire relates to the amount of current able to flow. The larger the resistivity of my wire the less current will pass through. To calculate resistance the following formula is used: R = V / I When resistance is measured the unit is given in Ohm’s. 1 ohm (? ) means 1 Volt is needed across my wire to sustain a 1Amp current, they are all related. PREDICTION Through my own knowledge gained I know that as the lengths of the wire increases so will resistivity. The electrons travelling through the wire have a larger distance to cover thus less current will pass through the wire. I predict that as the wire distance increases so will the resistivity. If the distance tripled, I predict that so will the resistivities assuming that the wire is the same diameter all the way along and perfectly round. The resistance is directly proportional to the distance. Resistance (ohms) Length (m) PRELIMINARY TESTING Before starting the testing on my final experiment I created a small preliminary test to quickly test for trends/accuracies or potential problems that could occur. It would be easier to solve them before starting the main experiment. I tested different thicknesses of wires from 28/30/32 swg Nichrome wire thickness. I also tested the supply current wasn’t too much/too little. This was a test to see if there were also any learning curves to overcome, this would help make the test fair before there could have been discrepancies in the final experiment. When choosing the wire I used a Micrometer to ensure that I had the correct thickness of wire and that it was reasonably accurate thickness of wire. The micrometer measures to the . 00 mm to ensure precise accuracy at very small thicknesses. During the preliminary tests we started with supply voltage on 5volts, this caused the wire of 28swg to get very hot and curl up at very high temperatures eventually snapping the wire. Instead of using a thicker wire we chose to drop the voltage down in increments of 0. 25 Volts and decided the best voltage to use was 3volts. This supplied sufficient and reliable results and didn’t damage any of the equipment. During the test I also found that results varied due to leaving the wires to cool sometimes and testing 3 different distances back to back quickly. So in the final experiment I will leave the wire to cool for 30seconds between each change in distance. The Independent variable (I. V) will be altered using the crocodile clips to change the distance selected of the wire. The wires will have been premeasured out to the distances 0-500mm with each increment of 50mm. Now that I have assessed how the experiment will go I am quite confident the experiment will now produce more accurate results, I will ensure this even further by repeating each test 3 times with 30seconds cool down between each test. This will be much more time consuming but will ensure that I get accurate results. I will take the average of the 3 results by adding them up and dividing by 3. In the final experiment I found that there may be an equipment error in the power pack causing +- 0. 005V fluctuations in the set voltage although this shouldn’t affect my experiment as the power pack has a dial function to set the voltage. This is quite an inaccurate way to do, so we must check the readings using a Voltmeter. APPARATUS AND SETUP Power pack – 3volts Crocodile Clips + wires 28 swg Nichrome wire Wood plank to ensure wire doesn’t burn the lab desk Meter ruler, 30cm ruler Micrometer Ammeter Voltmeter METHOD On the wooden plank, place the meter ruler and measure as accurate as possible from 0-50cm in increments of 5cm.

Stopping use of cocaine is a way of achieving good health Essays

Stopping use of cocaine is a way of achieving good health Essays Stopping use of cocaine is a way of achieving good health Essay Stopping use of cocaine is a way of achieving good health Essay In paragraph one, I will address the issue of introduction by creating an icebreaker. For example, we may lose five people to heart failures from this college every semester. This will serve as a chance to draw the attention of the whole audience to me. First, I will start by explaining what cocaine is. That it is a substance that when taken into the human system, it causes serious complications through stimulation of the brain. Since it is persuasive, I will need to know my audience, so I will ask if there is anyone who has ever used cocaine before. I will use this as knowledge source but not as an example. It is important to motivate the audience to feel at ease. Next, I will explain the various ways through which this substance is taken into the body which includes inhaling the powder, or through injection into the veins. Still in the same paragraph, I will state and explain some of the reason why people use cocaine. Some people will feel high. This is hype; I will illustrate why this is the leading cause of cocaine use. The feeling that a person gets to be above all other things. I will tell my audience that this is called illusion, and not hype as most individuals who take cocaine and other hard drugs think as explained by Berne et al., 2006. I will explain teenage influence where some teens are always dragged into the drug usage without being aware. I will also explain that other people get into cocaine use as a way of reducing stress since, during the illusion moment, they are not always in their mind, just moving in a strange world. In the second paragraph, I will discuss the content of cocaine that people take. I will explain that the cocaine contains a substance called caffeine a substance that is always responsible for addiction to the use of this drug. I will help them understand that this substance always dissolves in the blood and where it is transported to the brain and the central nervous system. At this place, it causes lapses in the brain activity while increasing the speed at which nervous system work. I will also give the second component, coke. Cocaine is derived from the coca plant whose leaves are used to prepare cocaine. Coke is what is responsible for causing increased body temperature once taken. In paragraph three, I will address the impact of using cocaine where I will handle each aspect one by one starting with medical. Stating that health is paramount to everybody, I will address the use of cocaine that will deprive individuals of their good health, hypertension being the main one. Hypertension is a major killer, a condition that has no cure. I will explain that the increased blood pressure can at sometimes lead to the rapture of the blood vessels as argued by Frank, Ellen 2000,which is fatal. I will mention other impacts such as stroke and numb. In paragraph four, I will address the issue of rehabilitation. I will make it clear to them that the process of recovery comes from an own individual. Once the will is present, even when taken to hospital for rehabilitation, they will find it easy. I will after that conclude by iterating that to achieve good health; individuals need to stop using of hard drugs especially cocaine. The Goya Painting Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

The Goya Painting - Essay Example The essay "The Goya Painting" explores the painting of Goya. Goya has brought more attention to the central figure whereas the other figures are crouched down and small. The last way that Goya brought attention to the central figure is through light and shadow. The use of light and shadow is very important in that Goya used bright light to bring the central figure to the viewers attention while the other figures and the building are in shadow pushing them into the background. Light and shadow is also used to get the feeling or message of the painting across to the viewer. In this case, the gunmen are darker and dangerous looking because they are in the shadows more. The feeling is that the gunmen have a dark intent and the man in the light is innocent and does not deserve to be in the current circumstance and the light cast on the slaughtered gentleman also creates a feeling that the killing was unnecessary. I feel sad and horrified when viewing Goya’s work because the paining gives me a feeling that any armed conflict between anyone is horrifying and unnecessary. It is clear from this painting that Goya is against war, armed conflict, and, in particular, violence. Goya obviously does not care for violence and the death associated with violence the violence of war. This is clear by the feelings this paining portrays and by the depiction of the gunmen as apposed to those on the opposite side of the guns. The people being shot at look distraught and innocent as show no reason why they should be.

Masculinity in Charlotte Brontes Jane Eyre :: Charlotte Bronte Jane Eyre Essays

Masculinity in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre Throughout the novel 'Jane Eyre' we meet 5 male characters. Immediately we can notice that the number of female characters outweighs the number of male characters. It feels as though BrontÃÆ'Â « is trying to tell us that overall women will come out more influential and powerful than men. Indeed power is what our male characters have in common. Their power however alters from character to character. This is the common version of masculinity portrayed by Bront throughout 'Jane Eyre'. Many men at the time of the novel were very powerful, this power varied from wealth, influential positions and even whom you knew. Women were not entitled to their own opinions and their husbands or fathers made all the decisions. Jane however defies the conventions of the time. She has her own opinions and is not prepared to take orders from the powerful men in the novel. With power comes other traits, and this is where we can differentiate between the characters. Brocklehurst and St John both have power through the position they hold (Brocklehurst being in charge of the girls' school and St John being a parson), whereas John Reed and Rochester have power through wealth. Mr Lloyd (the apothecary) is perhaps the only man in the novel without any real power and he is the only person who listens to Jane. Rochester's masculinity is the most important, as he represents the best and worst of a man. His masculinity is typical of this period and he is shown ordering Jane around, 'bring me my horse', most women were obliging to men as they were the authority in society, although Jane resents this authority and wants to do things her own way. So from this we can see that the masculinity he shows typical of the time and incredibly dominant and powerful over women in the novel, especially Jane. As the novel progresses however Rochester becomes less masculine during the fire at Thornfield he loses everything, here we can compare him to Jane because; at the beginning she too doesn't have anything. In loosing everything he loses his masculinity and power. He no longer has his house, 'I saw blackened ruins'. His house is part of his power and this is no longer there. He also looses his sight and his hand, Jane becomes his, 'eyes and hands', and Rochester is reliant on her, 'I led him out of the wet wild wood'. The role of the dominant one is reversed. Here Rochester shows very little masculinity as he is now not in charge. Jane saves Rochester but equally he saves her, from St Masculinity in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre :: Charlotte Bronte Jane Eyre Essays Masculinity in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre Throughout the novel 'Jane Eyre' we meet 5 male characters. John Pope Paul Iii Movie Reflection

December 9, 2010 Reflection on Pope John Paul II movie I found the movie Pope John Paul II very interesting and spiritually moving. God tells us in the bible that following him is not free of tribulation. He comforts by telling us he will not put anything against us that we cannot overcome. Sacrifice is one the key ingredients that comes with following the Lord. Pope John Paul II is a wonderful role model to follow when it comes to sacrifice. When the Nazis were trying to put an end to religion Karol was busy studying Gods word. By doing this, he is willing to sacrificing his life, because if he was caught he would be killed. He spent much of his younger years with friends, teaching them about human dignity and God. Before his Cardinal Years Karol sacrificed having a wife and children so that he could follow his passion for the Catholic religion and become a priest. After many years he was elected Cardinal and then Pope of Poland. Another moral issue in this film is the commitment of many mortal sins. Murder is the main sin seen throughout the movie. The Nazi’s wanted the polish to be miserable and gave them little freedom. If anyone was found rebelling against their strict laws they would be beaten and killed. This sin is repeated numerous times a day, and in great numbers. Even after the war died down murder wasn’t over. This is seen When Pope John Paul II life was unexpectedly put in danger when someone shot at him while he was making an appearance in public. Pope John Paul II fought for his life and continued to try and bring peace among people. All in all this movie is a wonderful example of what it means to follow Christianity. Pope John Paul II is a delightful man who brought a sense of comfort with him when speaking to the people. I found this movie very enjoyable and would recommend it to many people.

How to Write a Great College Application Essay Title

Your application essays title is the first thing admissions officials will read. Although there are many ways to approach the title, its important that the words at the top of the page make the proper impression. Importance of the Title Ask yourself which work youd be more excited to read: The Casque of Amontillado or Some Random Story by Edgar Allan Poe. If you dont provide a title, you dont give your reader—in this case, busy admissions officials sorting through thousands of applications—any reason to be interested in reading your essay other than a sense of duty. Ensure that college admissions officers are motivated to read your essay due to curiosity rather than necessity. Alternatively, imagine a newspaper in which every article lacks a title: You would be unlikely to read it. Clearly, a newspaper without titles would be unappealing to readers. Application essays are similar in that way: Your reader wants to know what it is that she is going to read. The Purpose of an Application Essay Title A well-crafted title should: Grab your readers attentionMake your reader want to read your essayProvide a sense of what your essay is about When it comes to the third item, realize that you dont need to be too detailed. Academic essays often have titles that look like: Julia Camerons Photography: A Study of the Use of Long Shutter Speeds to Create Spiritual Effects. For an application essay, such a title would come across as cumbersome and even pompous. Consider how a reader would react to an essay with the title,  The Authors Trip to Costa Rica and How It Changed His Attitude Toward Biodiversity and Sustainability. After reading such a long and belabored title, admissions officials would have little motivation to read the essay. Essay Title Examples A good title can be clever or play with words, such as Porkopolis  by Felicity or Buck Up  by Jill. Porkopolis is a nonsense word, but it works well for an essay on becoming a vegetarian in a meat-centric world, and Buck Up employs both a literal and figurative meaning of the phrase. However, dont try to be too clever. Such efforts can backfire. A title can be provocative. As an example, a student who wrote about encountering new foods while abroad titled her essay Eating Eyeballs. If your essay focuses on a humorous, shocking or embarrassing moment in your life, its often easy to write an attention-grabbing title. Titles such as Puking on the President, Romeos Ripped Tights, and The Wrong Goal are sure to pique your readers interest. Simple and direct language can also be quite effective. Consider, for example, The Job I Should Have Quit  by Drew,  Wallflower  by Eileen, and Striking Out  by Richard. These titles dont play with words or reveal great wit, but they accomplish their purpose perfectly well. In all of these examples, the title provides at least a sense of the essays subject matter, and each motivates the reader to continue reading. After viewing such titles, even harried admissions officials are sure to ask: What the heck does Porkopolis mean? Why did you eat eyeballs? Why should you have quit your job? Avoid These Title Mistakes There are some common missteps that applicants make when it comes to titles. Be aware of these pitfalls. Vague language. Youll be off to a remarkably bland start if your essay is titled Three Things That Matter to Me or A Bad Experience. Bad (or good or evil or nice) is a painfully subjective and meaningless word, and the word things might have worked well in Tim OBriens The Things They Carried, but it rarely adds anything of value to your essay. Be precise, not vague. Broad, overly general language. This is a continuation of the vague language problem. Some titles try to cover far too much. Dont call your essay My Life Story or My Personal Growth or An Eventful Upbringing. Such titles suggest that you are going to attempt to narrate years of your life in a few hundred words. Any such effort is doomed to failure, and your reader will doubt your essay before beginning the first paragraph. Overblown vocabulary. The best essays use clear and accessible language. When a writer attempts to sound intelligent by adding unnecessary syllables to every word, the reading experience is often torturous. For example, if an essays title is My Utilization of Erroneous Rationalizations During My Pupilage, the readers immediate response is going to be pure dread. No one wants to read 600 words on such a subject. Strained cleverness. Be careful if youre relying on wordplay in your title. Not all readers are fans of puns, and a title may sound ridiculous if the reader doesnt understand a supposedly clever allusion. Cleverness is a good thing, but test out your title on your acquaintances to ensure that it works. Clichà ©s. If your title relies on a clichà ©, youre suggesting that the experience that you are narrating is unremarkable and commonplace. You dont want the first impression of your essay to be that you have nothing original to say. If you find yourself writing When the Cat Got My Tongue or Burning the Midnight Oil, stop and reevaluate your title. Misspellings. Nothing is more embarrassing than a misspelled title. There, at the top of the page in bold letters, youve used the word its instead of its, or you wrote about patients instead of patience. Take extra care to check the spelling of your essay title—and, indeed, your essay in general. An error in the title is sure to eliminate any confidence your reader has in your writing ability. A Few Title Tips Many writers—both novices and experts—have a difficult time coming up with a title that works well. Write your essay first and then, once your ideas have truly taken shape, go back and craft the title. Also, seek help with your title. A brainstorming session with friends can often generate far better titles than a solitary session of pounding your head on your keyboard. You want admissions officials to read your essay in a curious and eager state of mind. If youre writing your essay for the Common Application, keep in mind that your title will go in the text box with the rest of the essay, and the title will count toward your essays overall word count.
